Giving Back

1.618 Financial Services are committed to a charity called The Paige Project, a foundation that aids children with cerebral palsy. They raise funds through various events and positively contribute to the lives of children struggling with this condition. 1.618 endeavour to involve themselves in their activities wherever possible to raise money for their cause.

The Paige Project is a charity organisation whose main objectives are to raise funds to benefit disadvantaged children with physical and mental disabilities (primarily caused by cerebral palsy), by supplying their family, care facilities or social workers with equipment or training courses to assist in the child’s development.

Through hosting social events they are able to raise funds and awareness. By focusing on ensuring all their supporters’ funds and efforts are greatly appreciated, supporters leave feeling the joy they have been a part of bringing the children. Helping provide corrective devices and therapy, is how supporters make the children’s lives that much easier.

To date The Paige Project Foundation has assisted the Donald Fraser Hospital, Limpopo, with equipment for 35 cerebral palsy children. In 2012, they built and opened their very first satellite centre at the Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg – The Paige Barson Centre for Cerebral Palsy Children. This centre currently cares for 45 cerebral palsy children on a monthly basis. They have also equipped a further 10 children with equipment to assist with their daily lives.

The Paige Project’s vision is to assist every child living with cerebral palsy in South Africa; and to open a head office Centre for Cerebral Palsy as well as numerous satellite centres around the country. The Centre will allow the Project to maintain a central hub from which it will be able to monitor, assist and aid the children attending satellite centres. It will also provide Non-Profit Organisation Malamulele Onward; who run an outreach program in the rural areas of South Africa; with the chance to move in to a building that is purpose-built to match the needs of the children and caregivers within the centre. These Centres will aid in the children’s development and assist care givers with the correct equipment and training to affect each child’s development positively.

As The Paige Project grows in support, so does an amazing cause. Regardless of the challenges faced, opportunities are given to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to support. The Project aims to, in the same way, prevail over the challenges in life that could render many helpless. With continuing support, it will assist those who are affected by these challenges to get the most out of their lives.

The support will not only help to ensure that the Project’s vision is a success, but also enrich the energy of our awareness campaign. This campaign ultimately allows the Project to reach the goals that it sets out for the disadvantaged community of South Africans living with Cerebral Palsy.

We at the 1.618 Financial Services team are proud to support this organisation, because making even one child’s life a little happier and easier, is small victory in itself.
